These enameled pins started out as a hand cut piece of copper. I sifted Vitreous Enamel (pigmented powdered glass) onto the copper, heated with a torch or kiln to 1500 degrees Fahrenheit until the glass melted and adhered to the copper. This process of sifting and firing on both sides of the copper is repeated in layers multiple times for coverage. The enameled faces are mounted with prongs that have been soldered to a hand cut copper back plate. The pin back has also been soldered to the copper back plate.
